Solar Power Is Coming to Terra Linda High School
At its April 15, 2024 meeting, our Board of Trustees approved a plan to install solar panels at Terra Linda High School. This project, which will be the first of its kind in our district, is a great step toward our goal of becoming more sustainable. The new solar array, with a capacity of 702 kilowatts, is expected to save the district an estimated $5.2 million over its lifetime. We'll be able to use that money to fund other important projects and programs for our students. Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2025 and is expected to be completed in March 2026.

At its October 7, 2024 meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the Schematic Design Approval of Terra Linda High School - Student & Staff Restroom Modernization, adding 9 staff toilets utilizing closets, old boiler rooms, and storage rooms near existing plumbing.
For the students, we will convert one student toilet room on the west of the building on each floor to all-gender toilets with individual toilets (see presentation) and keep one student toilet room on the east of the building gendered on each floor - one for boys and one for girls. The gendered set will be built with full-height dividers.
Construction is anticipated in the summer 2025 for student and staff toilets. Some of the staff toilet construction may continue into the academic year. We may need to provide "staff only" toilet trailers for a portion of the next academic year.

After months of design meetings with staff and the design team, HED, the architects of record, have submitted the plans for the TLHS Wellness Center to the Division of the State Architect for approval. We will be converting book and storage rooms to a dedicated Wellness Center. Once the TLHS Environmental Impact Report is completed, SRCS would award a construction contract, with an anticipated construction schedule of June to September 2024.
Terra Linda currently has a Wellness Coordinator, a Wellness Outreach Specialist, and four mental health clinicians available to support our students. Students can access the Wellness space by requesting a "Brain Break" pass from their teacher if they need a mental break during class. This design and the interior finishes of the Wellness Center have created a safe, supportive and collaborative learning environment that aligns with our key values. This Wellness Center will welcome, encourage and uplift our students and staff, and ensure they feel valued, known and supported.
