Coleman History: Established in 1909 and relocated to its current address in 1941, Coleman was completely rebuilt in 2004. The campus is comprised of several one-story buildings surrounding a central courtyard along with a library. Parents have contributed landscaping and garden areas to enhance the campus. During the 2007-08 school year, the school board approved the renovation of the school play field, which was funded through a combination of general fund and donations from the local Parent Teacher Association. The campus received approximately $13 million from the 2002 bond and modernization funds.
Dear Coleman Community:
San Rafael City Schools has unfortunately experienced some substantial delays from two regulatory agencies in their review period for necessary approvals for us to begin construction. Below is more information about the agencies, California Geological Survey and the Division of State Architect. As a result, projects at several schools have been impacted, including Coleman, where minimal work could be done for a large portion of summer 2024, and we did not make the progress we anticipated. We are all disappointed that this will extend the project completion timeline and require us to reassess the budget.
As the first day of school nears, your school principal or front office staff will share details about if / how construction may temporarily impact access to certain parts of campus. When available, the Capital Improvement team will publish updated schedules here.
